    Indian Creek Country Club located just outside of Miami, Florida is seeking a visible, hands-on leader as the Golf Course Superintendent. The Golf Course Superintendent will work collaboratively with the club leadership team including Aaron Barnett, Director of Agronomy, General Manager/COO and Green Committee to ensure optimal golf course conditions and daily member experience.  

    To be successful, the Golf Course Superintendent must have outstanding agronomy, leadership, communication, business acumen, golf course maintenance aptitude, and experience. Most importantly, the drive, creativity, and commitment to continue elevating the experience and reputation of Indian Creek Country Club. 

    The Golf Course Superintendent reports directly to the Director of Agronomy, Club’s General Manager/Chief Operating Officer. 

    ABOUT THE CLUB:

    Founded in 1928, Indian Creek Country Club (ICCC) is one of the premier social and golfing clubs in  Florida. The Club is steeped in rich history and tradition from its renowned William Flynn designed golf  course to its historical Maurice Fatio designed clubhouse. The Club is committed to providing its  geographically diverse membership with superb facilities and a committed and talented staff.

    Indian Creek Country Club is dedicated to furnishing its membership with a relaxed and personalized array of activities and the mission of the Club is to be “known for exceptional services, activities and facilities for all its members”. 

    Located on an exclusive, private gated island in the Intracoastal Waterway just west of the ocean and  the cities of Surfside and Bal Harbour, Indian Creek Country Club has a storied and celebrated history  and has approximately 345 members. In addition to its classic course, the Club boasts a 70,000 sq.ft.  clubhouse with a legendary Courtyard overlooking the Miami Biscayne Bay and the Downtown skyline. Exceptionally large Banyan trees surround much of the clubhouse and are dotted throughout  the course to further enhance this exceptional landscape. 

    The Mediterranean styling of the clubhouse is highlighted throughout with a large number of open air  and covered walkways and decks, as well as several dining and gathering areas, as well as an  extraordinary Great Hall, which is used for large events and functions. The locker rooms at Indian  Creek are among the finest and most appealing in the country.  

    Certainly, golf is the primary recreational amenity at Indian Creek, and the experience is a special one.  The golf course was completely renovated in the summer of 2022 under the guidance of Architect, Andrew Green. The renovation included new drainage, irrigation, tees, greens, and fairways extending

    INITIAL AREAS OF FOCUS:

    • Develop an understanding of course conditioning expectations and daily operations
    • Set standards for optimal course conditions and team development.
    • Develop and build strong relationships with key Club Team Leaders and Members.
    • Collaborate with Director on Short and Long-Range Plans for Golf Course Management, including but not limited to: fertility and pest management of Putting Greens, Tees, Fairways, Roughs, Bunkers, Landscape Cultivating & Development, Pesticide Usage, Watering Practices & Irrigation; and Equipment Operation and service.

    KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, APTITUDE AND OTHER TRAITS:

    Agronomics/Daily Golf Course Management: 

    • Strong technical and analytical focus to ensure optimal agronomic, water, soil, pest, and environmental management programs on bermudagrass greens.
    • Consistently seeks out modern conditioning methodology including tools and practices.
    • Experience with “high priority” bunker maintenance
    • Attentive to results-oriented cultural, fertility, and pesticide programming.
    • Understands regulatory, construction, surface, and stormwater planning.
    • Creates a safe, productive, and enjoyable environment for employees exhibiting good “housekeeping” practices. 
    • Utilizes sound environmental practices and implements Florida BMP’s.
    • Solid irrigation and drainage practices – promotes firmer daily conditions.

    Team Leadership & Development

    • Train, motivate and supervise the work of the employees in a safe and efficient manner.
    • Maintain a Risk Management and Safety Program.
    • Supervise the staff conducting servicing and repair of turfgrass maintenance and construction equipment.
    • Supervise the landscape maintenance of the Clubhouse grounds, Comfort Houses and Maintenance Facility.

    Communication 

    • Strong follow-up reporting and collaboration with the Director of Agronomy, General Manager, Head Golf Professional, Green Committee and direct reports.
    • Develops a member communication program to keep members updated on the latest happenings of conditions and maintenance practices.
    • Builds team rapport through high standards of team growth, and empowers them to take ownership within the golf course operations.

    Business/Financial Management 

    • Collaborate with the Director of Agronomy on the preparation of an annual Golf Course Management Budget pertaining to course management, financial control and Capital Expenditures.
    • Experience developing standard operating procedures and training programs to onboard new staff
    • Exemplary administrative, inventory, record-keeping, and accounting practices.
    • Comfortable utilizing Microsoft Office or similar software.
    • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, federal, and state regulations.
    • Strong time management and organizational skills.
    • Experience developing capital equipment replacement plans
    • Zero-based budgeting skills.
    • Maintain an Inventory Control System and provide monthly end reports to the CFO.
    • Ensure that all chemical and fertilizer application records are accurate and up to date in accordance with State law.

    Golf IQ/Industry Relations 

    • High golf IQ – steward of the game, environment, and traditions.
    • Golfer/student of the game with a sound understanding of ideal playing conditions.
    • Understand golf rules and regulations and playing conditions.

    EDUCATIONAL AND CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS

    • A degree in turf management or related field of study is required. 
    • Preferred 5-7 years of progressive growth in a high expectation facility known for great golfing conditions.
    • The GCS should be certified and/or licensed as a Pesticide Applicator in Florida.
    • GCSAA Certification is preferred.

    SALARY & BENEFITS

    • Annual Salary: $120,000 – $130,000
    • End of Season Bonus: Up to $5,000
