Estate Turfgrass Manager

Salary $75,000 - $90,000

Job Description – Manage all turfgrass needs for sports field and golf course type grasses on 2 estates located roughly 1 mile apart. 10 acres - both properties combined. Individual must be self-motivated and dedicated to attaining elite golf course standards consistently.

Experience Requirements

• Highly motivated, detail oriented, and willing to learn
• 2–4-year turfgrass management degree/certificate or related field preferred but not required
• Capable of obtaining a VA pesticides license
• Ability to communicate with advisor, property manager, and owner.
• Basic understanding of turf mathematics
• Knowledge on simple irrigation repair and central operating systems (TORO)
• Knowledge of bentgrass and Bermuda grass management

Daily Responsibilities

• Mow all surfaces (walking and riding)
• Detail surfaces and surrounds. I.e., edge bordering hardscape, irrigation heads, transition from bentgrass to Bermudagrass, etc.
• Calculate, mix, and apply pesticides and fertilizers according to labeled rates
• Set up and monitor daily irrigation needs
• Annual budget and equipment review
